Hello
I am currently doing some research into how technology changes teaching.
I am currently looking at how the word friend is changing it’s meaning or not.
What I mean is adding a friend on myspace/facebook/bebo/last.fm/msn etc the same as a friend you meet in person and shake hands with?
Can you have meaningful relationships with people online?
Can you have relationships with people online and never meet them?
Why I am asking this, is all to do with communication with students and trying to find the best ways.
Any thoughts would be great.
Dan

Dear Sir,
I would suggest firstly that you undertake a genealogical analysis of the concept of friendship, it’s movement and fluctuation throughout history. An indispensable guide for this undertaking should be Derrida’s ‘ Politics of Friendship’.
Yours Mr Los
